GREEN, WHITE + GOLD ROMANTIC SUMMER WEDDING

Alexa + Mark are HIGH SCHOOL SWEETHEARTS (so cute, right?!) that celebrated their stunning summer start to forever in the chapel! Their July soiree included their furry friends for photos on the porch, breathtaking green + white floral arrangements and a simple yet elegant vision that was perfect at Hawthorne House.

How long was your engagement?

11 months

How did you meet?

We are high school sweethearts! We've been together since 2006 and got engaged on our 13 year anniversary :)

How did Mark propose?

Mark proposed on our 13 year anniversary! He brought me coffee in bed with a ring tied in a ribbon on the cup handle! Our dogs were there too of course!

How would you describe your wedding?

I wanted something that was a combination between classic, romantic and simple!

What is your favorite memory from the wedding day?

First look! Seeing Mark calmed my nerves so much and the rest of the day was magical!

What was a priority while wedding planning?

Hiring a planner to help me keep everything organized!

What was a last minute addition you are SO glad you made?

Chargers at the tables. This was a last minute decision, but they really completed the table scape and I'm so glad I made that decision! I was also glad we ended up having favors. I wasn't initially going to have favors, but my mother in law ordered hand sanitizers to give out and I thought it was a cute touch, especially during a pandemic.

What is one thing you’re glad you did on the wedding day?

First look--highly, highly recommend this. And hiring a planner, this was a huge help for me. She thought of things that I would have NEVER thought about!

What is one thing you would change about how you approached the wedding planning process?

I'm a procrastinator at heart, so starting things sooner would have been less stressful. One example I can think of is picking out invitations. There are so many options and this took me longer to finalize than I had ever imagined.

What is one piece of advice you would give to engaged couples?

Do what you want to do for your wedding! There are a lot of people with opinions and while these should be valued, at the end of the day it's your wedding and final decisions should be made between you and you fiancé! Also, don't let the little things stress you out, everything will come together and it will be perfect simply because you are getting to marry your best friend and that's the BEST part!
