FIVE DETAILS YOU NEED ON YOUR WEDDING WEBSITE

Kansas City Wedding Venue at Hawthorne House

So you’re ready to build your wedding website, huh?

With platforms like The Knot, Zola and Minted they make it SO easy to build a custom looking website in just a few minutes. You can add photos, links, directions…just like planning a wedding the options are endless!

Which can make it daunting.

Below are the five aspects of a wedding website we consider necessary. Start with the necessary details, then add the fluff and personalize your wedding website with photos, your love story and any other fun unique details!

  1. A link, phone number AND photo for your hotel block: A photo will help your guests recognize the hotel- think how many “Courtyard Marriotts” there are in Kansas City, but you only have the discounted room rate and transportation service setup at ONE. By having a link to the direct booking outlet, address, phone number AND a photo you can alleviate texts/calls/emails from confused guests.

  2. Ceremony and reception information! For the ceremony include: addresses for both (even if they are at the same location) + if the ceremony is outside. When sharing reception information don’t forget to include: what is included in the time frame (for example, cocktails, dinner and dancing) as well as THE START TIME!!! You wouldn’t believe how many couples forget to add the ceremony/reception start times to their website. There will be many guests who log on the morning of the wedding to triple check they have the correct ceremony time….not that I’ve done that before ;)

  3. Registry information: Register at 2-3 different stores and include the links to each!

  4. Details you want your guests to know, but don’t want to waste space on when designing the invitation: If there is an open bar (friendly reminder to add there is no need for guests to bring their own booze), If there is an after party + transportation details are a few options.

  5. RSVP information: Most platforms have a wonderful portal that allows guests to RSVP online. They have fanci-fied these systems so much in the last few years. You can now input a spreadsheet so guests can only RSVP for those that are invited! No more pesky plus ones you didn’t plan on.

See? Not so daunting when it’s broken out into five simple steps! Of course, these are the basics that we highly encourage you add to your wedding website, but if you end up having extra time guests love learning more about your love story, seeing photos of the wedding party and hearing about what you are most excited about! Start with the basics, make the website live and don’t be afraid to edit along the way.

Happy planning from Hawthorne House!
