WHY HIRE A COORDINTOR WITH KEASHA FROM TRUE LOVE COORDINATING AND DESIGN

I know, I know. You’ve heard us talk about why coordinators are the bees knees a zillion times. BUT you haven’t heard from Keasha, the Owner and Lead Planner of True Love Coordinating and Design on her #HitchedAtHawthorne tips and trips before ;)

So, grab your coffee, a cozy blanket and get ready to dig in because there are some seriously great nuggets of information inside this interview!

I’m ready to start exploring options, but how do I know which package is right for me?

To determine which package best fits your needs you can check out our website for an overview! If that doesn’t quite do it and we want to get to know you and your partner anyway we suggest setting up a consult. We are firm believers in “talking it out” and usually by the end of the meeting we can recommend the right package for you!

My venue provides a venue manager- what is the difference between a venue manager and wedding coordinator?

I think to best describe the difference I always tell my clients this story! If you are about to walk down the aisle and the toilet starts overflowing your venue manager is going to tend to the toilet! The planner/coordinator is going to ensure you get down that dang aisle on time and stay dry. The two work together to make the day go seamlessly and take care of any problems that arise! Venue managers will ensure the building and its employees are in tip top shape the entire day. They will be there if any questions arise and do their best to make sure the client has the best experience! Your planner works SPECIFICALLY for YOU so we are taking care of your needs first!

You’ve coordinated a ton of weddings at Hawthorne House. What is the best flow of events for a #HitchedAtHawthorne wedding?

  • Start the morning off right with some beverages with your party!

  • After Hair and Makeup is complete first look on the front porch with the ferns and read letter or vows to each other.

  • Next have a fun photo op moment with each other and then with your party.

  • Knock all family photos out as well prior to ceremony if possible.

  • Ceremony time! Im a personal fan of outdoors no matter what time of year.

  • After the ceremony your guests can enjoy cocktail hour while sipping on a signature cocktail on the lawn!

  • During cocktail hour the new couple can hang out in the magnolia room with appetizers and a drink. Then join cocktail hour if they wish!

  • Right after cocktails head to grand entrance and knock out your first dance!

  • Then transition into straight into dinner. While everyone is eating sneak off to cut the cake in private.

  • This may not be everyone’s favorite but I have had a lot of couples skip the toasts at the reception and do them all at rehearsal! It SAVES so much time and gives friends and family a more initiate setting to speak.

  • Next we move on to the remaining special dances and I love when couple transition into the dance floor immediately after!

  • Last but not least for your big day SUNSET PHOTOS! These to me are a must have and you should put them on the priority list. Especially at Hawthorne with the sun coming through the trees!

What makes True Love Coordinating and Design different from other coordination firms in Kansas City?

I think one large item that sets us apart from other companies is our temperament on wedding days and throughout the planning process! From the get go you will learn that it takes a lot to ruffle our feathers. We are not the type of planners to come to you with small issues or problems. Our clients trust us to make the best decision on their behalf! If a problem arises that is large and requires the couple to make a decision then we will come to you with options A,B, or C and let you pick! Giving educational feedback in which decision might make the most sense. Our approach to planning is a bit more causal but with checklists and open communication! We are very honest about all aspects of planning and want to give you a day that feels like YOU!

What is your #1 piece of advice to newly engaged couples as they embark on the planning journey?

Take in all the advice from us, your peers, and family but if it doesn’t feel right or feel like you TRUST YOUR GUT!

Holy SMOKES my wedding is 4 weeks away. What can I expect in this last month of planning if I work with you?

You can expect a little sigh of relief because we are in the home stretch! Our goal is to take care of as much as possible prior to 30 days! That way when you have final meetings with us or other vendors you have all the tools you need. At our final we will FINALIZE all details and if we haven’t already we will take over all communication with vendors. This will allow you to focus on the final small details while letting us answer everything else!

I want my wedding to be unique. What are some neat things I could do?

We get this question ALOT in initial consult meetings and here’s what I ask my couples to do! Describe you and your partner in 3 words. Those 3 words you just use are what your wedding day should feel like! This is the main driving factor in the mood board, experience, and budget for your day. I’ll do myself and hubby for an example! “Bold, Fun, Talkative” Our wedding was one heck of a party filled with lots of color and a ton of people!

What vendor category would you rank as most important, after venue and coordinator of course!

Photographer!! It’s how you are going to remember your wedding not only through your eyes but your guests experiencing it.

True Love Coordinating and Design is not only one of our favs to have at Hawthorne House, but we have also created an exclusive (and discounted!!) #HitchedAtHawthorne package to make every Hawthorne House wedding as seamless as possible. We know that when a True Love Coordinating and Design team member is onsite the wedding will be fun, fabulous and flawless!
